Department of Health Secretary Brendan Murphy said “I think that we’ll go most of this year with still substantial border restrictions”. He told to the Australian Broadcasting Corporation that “Even if we have a lot of the population vaccinated, we don’t know whether that will prevent transmission of the virus,” he said, adding that he believed quarantine requirements for travelers would continue “for some time”.

The process of vaccination is due to begin in late February. Authorities are insisting the government speed up the process of vaccination. Prime minister Scott Morrison indicated that the Australian border could open sooner than expected if the vaccination process went well and effectively. It is almost sure that Australia won’t reopen its border without vaccinating its people inside the country. It’s already late February and they could start the vaccination process from the end of this month or from March. It depends on how rapidly they are planning to do it. The planning of vaccination and completion is the subject that will affect border restriction. If they complete the vaccination in 6 months the border could be open from late 2021 or 2022.
